Your wedding flower questions answered

Wedding flower FAQs

When should I organise my wedding flowers?

It's best to book your florist as soon as you have your venue and date confirmed to ensure availability.

How much will my wedding flowers cost?

Costs depend on your chosen flowers, style, and colour scheme. We offer guide prices to give you an idea of the range. Quotes will include VAT, materials, labour, and logistics (delivery, set-up, and item collection).

Do you have a minimum spend for wedding flowers?

We don’t have a minimum spend but offer different design services based on your budget:

  • Pre-design: A relaxed brief and seasonal approach with lower starting prices than bespoke work.
  • Bespoke wedding flowers: For budgets under £1,500, suitable for simpler weddings. Includes a £50 design fee.
  • Luxury bespoke wedding flowers: For budgets over £1,500, ideal for larger celebrations or special installations.

Note: Bespoke designs may be subject to supplier minimum order quantities

Do I still have to pay the 'Bespoke wedding flowers' design fee if I only want a bouquet and buttonhole?

It depends. If you have an image to replicate, we can provide a quote for that. If you want a consultation and a custom design, it falls under the Bespoke service. Alternatively, you can select flowers from our shop 2 days before your wedding, with an additional £15 charge for a bridal bouquet (includes ribbon and florist time) and a £5 charge for buttonholes.

How does the process work?

During your consultation, our experienced wedding florists will work with you to get a creative brief and a list of arrangements to quote for. Once complete, your wedding florist will create a mood board and calculate your quote with inspiration images to help you visualise. You’ll receive your quote within 10 working days.

How do I book my wedding flowers with Gardenia?

To secure your booking, a non-refundable deposit of £250 and a signed contract are required. This deposit will be deducted from your final invoice.

When will I have to pay the balance for my wedding flowers?

The final balance (minus the £250 deposit) is due 6 weeks before your wedding.

Can I have a mock-up of my wedding flowers in advance?

Mock-ups can be arranged based on flower availability, and are charged at full price. They may also be subject to minimum order quantities.

Why are wedding flowers by Gardenia a sustainable choice?

Our sustainable weddings focus on responsible design and sourcing, holding ourselves accountable for thoughtful waste management and ensuring that we are good to the people around us.

Sustainable Floral Design - We replace floral foam - a product made from microplastics - with wool and moss. While this approach takes more effort, we’re committed to doing what’s best for the environment.

Eco-Friendly Packaging – As a business we use home-compostable and home-recyclable packaging exclusively. This is very different to being commercially compostable, which isn’t a process that is accessible to the general public, or biodegradable - even harmful materials biodegrade eventually, but they’re still harmful materials.

Recycling and Reusing Materials - Any plastic from third-party suppliers is reused or recycled through our partnership with FirstMile. For the rare occasions when non-compostable materials are necessary, we ensure they’re repurposed. We’ve proudly maintained a zero-waste-to-landfill record since 2017.

Green Waste Management - All of our green waste is processed through CompostUK, turning it into nutrient-rich compost used in British agriculture and horticulture.

Supporting People and Communities - Sustainability isn’t just about the planet - it’s about people too. Our team, suppliers, and local community are at the heart of our sustainability initiatives.
